Jaydon’s tubular adventure

Every couple of weeks Jaydon and Daddy would meet with grandma for lunch at Chick-fil-A. After eating Jaydon loves to play in the indoor play area. He would run around with the other kids, play with the toy displays and scoot several feet up into the slide and then slide back down.

Jaydon loves to slide down slides but the one at Chick-fil-A requires the child to climb up a tight winding tube to get to the top. This is something Jaydon just could not do on his own. He’s too short, at least for the moment. Jaydon still needs to grow a little more first.

But not to be outdone by the obstacle Jaydon took grandmas hand and lead her to the entrance of the playground equipment. In the climbing tube there are a couple of windows at each level. Jaydon was jumping and reaching. Grandma thought he wanted to look out one of the windows so she helped him up.

But Jaydon had other ideas.

Jaydon peeks through one of the windows at the top of the playground equipment.

Now that grandma was kind enough to help, my little monkey was able to climb the rest of the way up the tube.

We were all shocked and a little concerned. Looking up we could see Jaydon peeking through one of the windows. He smiled and laughed as he made his way back and fourth playing in each section.

Jaydon smiles and waves.

After a few minutes we could see the silhouette of Jaydon near the top of the slide. So grandma and I started to coached Jaydon to “slide down the slide.” After a few seconds, down he came!

Jaydon "wees" as he slides down.

I tend to be a little controlling and feel like I need to be right there with him. But after Jaydon made his way down the slide and out of the playground equipment on his own I realized it was OK to steep back, a little, and let Jaydon play and explore on his own.

I was even confident enough to let Jaydon go back up into the playground equipment two more times to play and slide.

Leave it to Jaydon to figure that if he was going to get a chance at that slide, Grandma was the one to tap. A delightful story. Thanks for visiting and the like of my post “Packed In”.
